Nigerian Pianist Sodi Braide Plays Chopin at 'Piano et Patrimoine' Festival in Arras September 16

[Sodi Braide, Festival de Chaillol, Château de Montmaur, 11 August 2010.]

AfriClassical has reported on the Nigerian pianist Sodi Braide, http://sodibraide.com, for years. An audio sample of his César Franck CD can be accessed from the home page of the blog. A few days ago we asked Sodi some questions:

“Hello Sodi,
I see the Summer was a busy time for you, according to the schedule at your website. Could you tell me something about the 'Piano et Patrimoine' festival, Arras recital, on 16 September? I would also like to know something about the Recital, Forges Raveau, of Chopin, 24 preludes on 23 October. Any other news would be welcome! Best wishes, Bill”

Sodi Braide has made this reply concerning his performances:
“Dear Bill,
So nice to hear from you! Yes, the summer was quite busy, I played different festivals in a lot of beautiful places in France, for very appreciative audiences. I was able to take a short vacation though, late August- I only got back 3-4 days ago.

“The festival 'Piano et Patrimoine', meaning 'Piano and Heritage', is a new festival in the north of France (this is their second year). There are three concerts, taking place in venues that are part of the rich cultural heritage of Arras, a small town of great historical interest. I will be playing Chopin's 24 preludes and some mazurkas, as well as some preludes by Debussy. You might want to check up Arras on the internet. If you would like to download the program of the festival, here is the link: http://www.arras.fr/fileadmin/user_upload/pdf/Culture/depliant_piano.pdf.

I have been playing Chopin's 24 preludes throughout this year, as part of the celebrations of the bicentennial of his birth. I shall be playing them again at the Forges Raveau, a lovely countryside domain in central France that has concerts throughout the year. The owners of the domain are friends of mine and I gave the very first concert there, some years ago, when they decided to build a small concert hall next to the domain. It's a lovely place and they have a bed and breakfast so if ever you're in that part of France, don't hesitate to stay with them, especially if they have a concert at that time! Their website is http://www.domaine-des-forges-dela-vache.com I hope you are well. All the best to you, Sodi.
