'Music For Kwanzaa' Sunday Dec. 19, 10 AM – 1 PM ET on WPRB 103.3 FM & WPRB.com

“DJ ED,” aka Ed Martin, is Host of “Cactus Corners” on radio station KDVS-FM in California. He alerted us to a special program of “Music For Kwanzaa” planned for Sunday, December 19, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time by the well-known independent music host Marvin Rosen. His program “Classical Discoveries” is broadcast from Princeton, New Jersey on WPRB 103.3 FM and is streamed online at http://www.WPRB.com/listen.php

We wrote to Marvin Rosen, who promptly replied:
“Hello Bill,
Thanks so much for your note. I am actually going to be doing the most varied program I ever did this Sunday. I am subbing this Sunday for the person who does Jazz which is why I decided to do a really varied program.

“The show will be totally devoted to music performed and composed by black musicians. I'll not only be doing 'classical composers' but will also be adding some jazz and even Motown and Philly R&B. There will be music for example by Adolphus Hailstork, W.C. Handy, James P. Johnson, William Grant Still, George Walker, Gregory Walker and James Kimo Williams. Thanks so much for writing and feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
Best,
Marvin” [Adolphus Hailstork (b. 1941), James P. Johnson (1894-1955), William Grant Still (1895-1978) and George Walker (b. 1922) are featured at AfriClassical.com]
