Pianist Fredericka King in Masterclass & Recital at Bridgewater State U. Feb. 23; Music of Black Composers on Program

On Dec. 9, 2010 AfriClassical posted: “Pianist Fredericka King & Trumpeter Charles Lewis in Music of William Grant Still, Weston MA Dec. 12.” Fredericka King sends news of an upcoming program which is very much in keeping with Black History Month:

"Dear Mr. Zick!
Hope this email finds you well, and busy with passing on information about numerous wonderful events during this special month. On February 23 I will be doing a masterclass at Bridgewater State University in the afternoon (1-3 pm) and performing a recital in the evening.

The program is as follows:

Scarlatti: 3 sonatas

Schubert: Impromptu in Ab,

George Walker: Sonata no.1 (2nd and 3rd movements)

William Grant Still: Three Visions

Gershwin: Two Waltzes in C

Amy Beach: Dreaming

Samuel Coleridge Taylor: Deep River

Florence Price: Sonata in E minor – Andante

Margaret Bonds: Troubled Water

I'm very much looking forward to my visit to the university and the opportunity to perform some of my favorite works by Black composers!
