“After soloing with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra earlier this year, classical pianist Jade Simmons returns to central Illinois this weekend to headline a music festival at Illinois College. The inaugural Engelbach-Hart Music Festival is set for Friday and Saturday in Rammelkamp Chapel, on the school’s Jacksonville campus.

“Simmons will present a solo recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The concert is to include Lizst’s 'Caprice No. 24,' Robert Muczynski’s and Fazil Say’s 'Paganini Jazz,' and Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C-Sharp Minor, 'Etude Tableaux' and 'The Corelli Variations.' At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Simmons will give a lecture titled 'Black. Female. Classical Pianist.' The festival concludes with a 'Patriotic Pops' concert at 7 p.m. Saturday.
