Jeffrey James Arts tells AfriClassical that The University of Missouri-St. Louis is the host institution for “Women In The Arts, International Conference Nov. 10-12, 2011.”

Our presentations cover the many fields of women creators in the arts: music, literature, drama, dance, performance art, and visual art including papers, lecture-recitals, clinics, demonstrations, panels, performances, and workshops. Presenters are faculty members (full time, adjunct, and retired), independent scholars, performers, artists, writers, and graduate students.
“We are pleased the Conference has attracted presenters from a variety of locations: Flagler College in Florida, University of Northern Colorado, Southwestern Illinois College, St. Louis Community College, University of Missouri-Kansas City, Washington University in St. Louis, Savannah College of Art and Design, Indiana University, Berklee School of Music, University of Florida School of Music, Canisius College, Eastern Kentucky University, Murray State University, England, and participants from California, New York, Kentucky, Missouri and Georgia.”
At 9:00 AM Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, Gail Fleming will give a presentation entitled “Rosemary Nalden and the Buskaid Soweto String Project in South Africa.” Its website says: “Buskaid is a charitable trust registered in both South Africa and the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1992 by British viola player Rosemary Nalden, in response to a BBC radio interview highlighting the difficulties of a group of young string players in Diepkloof, Soweto.”
