As a follow up to my earlier comment, I will take the leap to compliment the Chicago Sinfonietta for  an innovative effort to expand the audience for classical music and hopefully for composers of African descent. I take the leap because the Chicago Sinfonietta did not single out an African American composer's music for the experimental orchestral dance mix but included an African American composers with better recognized classical giants.
Orchestral Dance Mix (arr. Sam Shoup) featuring:
TCHAIKOVSKY: Selections from Swan Lake Suite
PRICE: Symphony No. 1, Mov. 3 and 4
KHACHATURIAN: Sabre Dance from Gayane
RACHMANINOFF: Symphonic Dances
FootworKINGz and members of Kuumba Lynx will be exposed along with the audience to music by great composers of mixed ancestry and home countries. The Chicago Sinfonetta is not bringing down Margaret Bond but bring youth and others up to heigher awareness and new thoughts for study and research. Bravo
