Sunday, January 18, 2015, I was delighted to witness first class state of the art sacred music performances during the Thirtieth Commemorative Concert  in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Trinity Baptist Church (Reverend Alvin Tunstill, Jr.) in Los Angeles featuring The Martin Luther King Celebration Choir 2015 combining voices of The Delta Sigma Theta Choraliers (Mrs. Danellen Joseph, Director), Male Chorus of Los Angeles (Mr. Perry Hayes, director), and The Alpha Kappa Alpha Chorus (Dr. Hansonia Caldwell-Harriford, director).

With youth as a central theme, the concert band of James A. Foshay Learning Center convincingly  demonstrated the need to continue and expand music programs in all schools. Individually and collectively, the three choirs sang strategically diverse pieces capturing the philosophy of Dr. King. Dr. Hansonia Caldwell-Harriford noted all the selected music was composed by Los Angeles composers.

The renowned Rev. Dr. James Lawson shared a narration over combined choirs before the concluding We Shall Overcome sing along.

Thanks
John
